Jinks holds a Bachelor of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory and a Master of Music from the Bienen School at Northwestern University. His primary teachers include Jo Anne Link, Jack Winerock, Steven Spooner, Yoshikazu Nagai, and James Giles. At Northwestern, Jinks was awarded first prize in the 2024 Pauline Lindsey Endowed Scholarship Competition and received the 2025 Thaviu-Isaak Endowed Prize in Piano, Northwestern’s highest distinction in piano performance. His graduate work was generously supported by the Eckstein Fund. Jinks is a first-prize winner of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Piano Competition and a Chopin Prize Recipient from the Chopin Foundation of the United States. He holds top prizes from the Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, the International Steinway Concerto Competition at the Colburn School, and the Schubert Club Competition. He has appeared in faculty recital at the Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival in Maiori, Italy, and his performances have been aired on Classical Minnesota Public Radio. As a concerto soloist, Jinks has appeared with the Mississippi Valley Orchestra, Minnetonka Symphony, Minnehaha Repertory Orchestra, and the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. A devoted educator whose teaching spans nearly a decade, Jinks maintains a broad pedagogical scope, providing an approach equally adept in guiding young beginners as it is in mentoring the most gifted students toward the highest levels of artistic preparation. At Northwestern University, Jinks instructed undergraduate pianists through the Bienen School’s advanced non-major piano program. As a recital soloist, Salazar has performed at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Baldwin Wallace University, St. Olaf College, Oakland University, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Spring Arbor University, and Albion College. He has received numerous honors, including first prize in the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition, the Michigan State University Concerto Competition, and the Arizona State University Concerto Competition. He also earned second place in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Woodwind Competition and was a finalist in both the Brevard Jean and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition and The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Collegiate Solo Competition. Salazar performs regularly as an orchestral saxophonist and has appeared with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the ASU Symphony Orchestra. An active chamber musician, he has performed with several saxophone quartets based in Michigan and Arizona. A dedicated educator, Salazar serves as Lecturer of Saxophone at Baldwin Wallace University and Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Cleveland State University.
