Nathan Salazar

RUSH | Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, by Kenneth Fuchs

Nathan Salazar is a saxophonist based in Cleveland, Ohio.

As a recital soloist, Salazar has performed at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Baldwin Wallace University, St. Olaf College, Oakland University, Western Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Spring Arbor University, and Albion College. He has received numerous honors, including first prize in the Marquette Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition, the Michigan State University Concerto Competition, and the Arizona State University Concerto Competition. He also earned second place in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Woodwind Competition and was a finalist in both the Brevard Jean and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition and The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” Collegiate Solo Competition.

Salazar performs regularly as an orchestral saxophonist and has appeared with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Firelands Symphony Orchestra, the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the ASU Symphony Orchestra. An active chamber musician, he has performed with several saxophone quartets based in Michigan and Arizona.

A dedicated educator, Salazar serves as Lecturer of Saxophone at Baldwin Wallace University and Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Cleveland State University. He previously taught at Albion College, Spring Arbor University, and the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Community Music School.
